FLECS-ABILITY DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS:  The flecs-abilty tools allow you to diagnose how you interact with others and your preferences for using one of four patterns, follow, lead, explore, or collaborate. It also gives you feedback on the appropriateness of your style choices.
There are two versions of the questionnaire, SELF and OTHER. It is recommended that you collect input from at least three other persons who have experienced you in a situation where leadership/management behaviours would arise. The most obvious source would be in a hierarchical organization in which some people have formal responsibility to lead and manage others. Collecting input from persons above and below you in the hierarchy would be natural. However, in today's networked, temporary, project-based, virtual world, hierarchy is often the exception... today I might lead....  tomorrow I might follow... and in between I might be collaborating with a colleauge... or exploring new worlds with a client.

So if you live in a non-hierarchical, horizontal world, it is important to collect input from others with whom you interact on a more or less equal basis. A recent study of the most critical challenges facing senior executives revealed that next to the top concern... 'doing more with less' was...  'my success is increasingly dependent upon a large network of people who do not work for me and who I do not work for'. These people might be fellow board members, community volunteers, key suppliers, key customers/clients, experts and advisors, project team members, consultants, regulators, bankers or whatever.

It will not only show the style that appears to dominate, those that are secondary and those that you rarely use, but it will also show how close your style choices are to those that are theoretically correct.
